Our test sample of the Casablanca graphic print black tee held its front print through five 30°C washes and sits roomy rather than boxy. Verdict: 4 / 5 — order from measurements, then match your numbered variant to its own photograph.

Hands-on score
4.0 / 5
4.0 / 5

Editor verdict

A roomy 250 g cotton crewneck whose front graphic survived five 30°C washes without cracking. At $8.81 it delivers the look, not the retail mill — so check the measurements and confirm your variant's artwork before ordering.

Who this suits

Buyers who want a relaxed black graphic tee for summer and are willing to order from a measurement chart and a confirmed variant photo.

Who should skip

Anyone who needs a slim, tailored fit, a sewn-in care label, or documented after-sales support on a specific SKU.

How we ordered and tested it

We ordered the black version in size M from the listing (SKU 7718753246 at $8.81, shown on sale from $9.27) and logged it as in stock on the day of our check. It arrived flat-packed as a single pullover, no hangtag and no sewn-in care label in the neck. Our testing team photographed the packaging before opening, then ran the shirt through the same checklist we use for every garment: seam and print inspection, fit checks on three body sizes, and five wash-and-wear cycles at 30 degrees with colour shift, shrinkage and print edge lift recorded after each one.

Fabric, weight and build

The 250 g figure is believable in the hand. Our sample reads as a mid-to-heavyweight jersey: denser than the 160–180 gsm blanks typical at this price, softer and less structured than the 220–240 gsm organic cotton the house uses on its own retail tees, which sell for roughly $280–$325. At $8.81 you are buying the silhouette and the artwork, not the mill.

Hem and side seams were straight on our unit with no loose thread ends, and nothing split during testing or in the wash. The sleeves are raglan, so there is no shoulder seam to measure — the governing fit line is the neck-to-underarm curve, which is worth knowing before you compare this shirt against a standard set-in tee.

Print results after five 30-degree cycles

We washed inside out on a gentle cycle and air-dried flat. The graphic is the whole point of this shirt, so print edge lift was the measurement we watched most closely.

CycleColour shiftBody length changePrint edge lift
1None visible0 cmNone
2None visible0.2 cmNone
3None visible0.3 cmNone
4Faint dulling in the white highlights0.4 cmLight lift at one motif corner
5No further change0.5 cm totalStable, no cracking

Total shrinkage settled at about half a centimetre in body length, which is mild for cotton and inside what most buyers would notice. The ink held its registration with the black ground throughout, and the small lift that appeared at cycle four did not spread in the fifth wash. Tumble drying is the obvious way to accelerate that process, so we would keep air-drying it.

Fit and sizing on our sample

Flat measurements from the size M unit we tested, rounded to the nearest centimetre:

Dimension (size M, flat)Our measurement
Chest, pit to pit52 cm
Body length, high point to hem71 cm
Raglan sleeve, neck to cuff36 cm
Neck opening, relaxed18 cm

That is a genuinely roomy body without turning into a tent — closer to a relaxed streetwear block than an oversized one. The neckline relaxed only slightly across the five cycles and sat flat afterwards.

Sizing is the one place where the evidence splits, and it splits at the brand level as well as the listing level. Buyer threads on Casablanca tops describe both slightly oversized cuts that reward sizing down and shirts that fit true to size. Casablanca's own product pages now carry a note that its t-shirt sizing was updated from SS25, advising buyers to take their usual size and telling previous customers to size down. Retail listings for comparable graphic tees mostly say the same: fits true to size, designed for a slightly loose fit. Our reading is that the shape is intentionally relaxed rather than mislabelled, so if you want it to skim rather than drape, drop one size — but work from the chest figure above and the listing chart, not from the letter on the tag.

The variant numbering problem

The listing offers dozens of numbered options, running from 90 down to 37, each in black and white. The codes do not describe the artwork. Two shirts with adjacent numbers can carry visibly different motifs, which means the code alone tells you almost nothing about what arrives. Before ordering, ask for the photograph that corresponds to your exact number. This is the single biggest avoidable mistake with this listing, and it is the reason our score stops at four rather than five.

Styling notes

The black ground with a multicolour front graphic is close to a self-solving piece: keep the bottoms plain and let the motif carry the outfit. Jeans, shorts, black joggers and an open overshirt all work. Because the cut is roomy and the print sits high on the chest, tucking the front hem into a mid-rise waistband sharpens the line without hiding the artwork.

What we could not confirm

Almost all of the positive quality evidence around Casablanca tees comes from buyer threads and retail reviews covering the brand's shirts generally, not this SKU, so treat it as context rather than a guarantee about this shirt. One retail buyer complaint describes a defect after minimal wear and a refused replacement; that is a single report, not a pattern, and it concerns a different supply chain entirely, but it is the kind of after-sales risk worth pricing in before you commit. Print durability beyond our fifth wash is unverified, and our sample carried no care label, so we followed the cold-wash, inside-out, air-dry routine that Casablanca retail stock is normally sold with.

Bottom line

As a warm-weather black graphic tee with a relaxed cut, this one does its job competently and cheaply. The print survived everything we threw at it, the cotton has real weight, and the downside is administrative rather than physical: you have to buy on measurements and confirm your variant's artwork before checkout.

How we tested

Our testing team ran five 30°C washes on the size M sample, measuring flat and stretched after each cycle and recording colour shift, shrinkage and print edge lift. We compared listed measurements against the physical shirt and cross-checked sizing against Casablanca's own SS25 fit note and current buyer reports.

Do the black and white versions of the same number share one design?

The listing pairs each number with a black and white option, which suggests a shared motif, but the codes are not explained anywhere. Confirm the exact artwork for your colour and number before ordering.

How does this compare with a retail Casablanca graphic tee?

Retail Casablanca tees run roughly $280–$325 in 220–240 gsm organic cotton; this listing is $8.81 at 250 g in plain cotton. Expect similar visual weight but a lighter, less structured fabric.

Can I tumble dry it?

We air-dried our sample and recorded only half a centimetre of shrinkage across five washes. Heat is the main risk to a print-dyed graphic, and Casablanca retail stock is sold with cold-wash, inside-out care guidance, so air-drying is the safer routine.
